Fondé en 2020 par la photographe Liasmine Fodil, le Tilawin Project est un programme de mentorat œuvrant à l’émergence et la promotion des femmes photographes vivant en Algérie et issues de la diaspora.
Depuis sa création, il a compté parmi ses mentors les photographes Leila Bakouche, Nedjla Bencheikh, Safia Delta, Liasmine Fodil, Lola Khalfa, Sonia Merabet, Lynn S.K. et Nora Zaïr.
Dans un milieu où les femmes demeurent sous-représentées, en réunissant sept binômes chaque année, il offre un espace d’échanges et de partage, ainsi que des possibilités de monstration des travaux développés.
En 2021, le programme a été exposé à la galerie d’art contemporain HilbertRaum, à Berlin. La même année, il a également figuré dans le journal de la Fondation Louis Vuitton listant les initiatives culturelles récemment nées en Afrique. Les productions de ses autrices sont actuellement mises en lumière au CNAC le Magasin (Grenoble) avec une vidéo projection et un journal présentés dans le cadre de l’exposition collective “Épilogue : en attendant Omar Gatlato”. L’oeuvre collective ‘À nos lèvres suspendues’ a été vidéprojetée à l’occasion du festival Les Femmes s’exposent et des Rencontres d’Arles en 2024.
Programme Lauréat de la bourse arts visuels du fond AFAC en 2023, le Tilawin Project prépare actuellement sa première exposition collective en Algérie pour l’automne 2024.

Founded in 2020 by photographer Liasmine Fodil, the Tilawin Project is a mentoring program working towards the emergence and promotion of women photographers living in Algeria and from the diaspora.
Since its creation, its mentors have included photographers Leila Bakouche, Nedjla Bencheikh, Safia Delta, Liasmine Fodil, Lola Khalfa, Sonia Merabet, Lynn S.K. and Nora Zaïr.
In an environement where women remain under-represented, by bringing together seven pairs each year, it offers a space for exchange and sharing, as well as opportunities to showcase the work developed.
In 2021, the program was exhibited at the HilbertRaum contemporary art gallery in Berlin. In the same year, it also featured in the Fondation Louis Vuitton's journal of recent cultural initiatives in Africa. Its authors' productions are currently highlighted at CNAC le Magasin (Grenoble) with a video projection and journal presented as part of the group exhibition "Épilogue : en attendant Omar Gatlato". The collective work 'À nos lèvres suspendues' was video-projected for the festival Les Femmes s'exposent and the Rencontres d'Arles en 2024.
Winner program of the visual arts grant from the AFAC fund in 2023, the Tilawin Project is currently preparing its first group exhibition in Algeria for autumn 2024.
